Description of Post Flairs

Discussion Flairs

Discussion-Based Submission Flair

• Discussion

  • Serves as a general flair. Any discussion that does not fall under the other flairs will fall under here.

• Competition Discussion

  • A flair for discussions about a competition. This includes competition day discussions, post-competition discussions, etc.

• Advice Needed

  • A flair for discussions where the OP is seeking advice. The OP may be asking a question, but they also include other background information for the responses to be relevant and accurate. This includes questions about remaining in marching band, requests for feedback on leading a section, etc.

• Technical Question

  • A flair for discussions where the OP is asking a technical question. This includes questions about music notation, the date of an event, mobile app or website recommendations, etc.

• Story

  • A flair for discussions where the OP is telling a story, but not asking for advice.

• Meta

  • A flair for discussions about the subreddit itself.

Flairs that are not exclusive to discussion-based submissions.

Generally, you want to stay away from using these flairs for discussion-based submissions, but if you feel that no other flair fits your submission, you are free to use these.

• Drum Corps

  • May be used to flair a post about drum corps.

• BOA

  • May be used to flair a post about Bands of America.

• College Band

  • May be used to flair a post about college band.

Media Flairs

Media-Based Submission Flair

• Media

  • Serves as a general flair for videos, images, and links. Any media submission that does not fall under the other, more-detailed flairs will fall under here.

• Competition Media

  • A flair for media from a competition. This includes competition day videos, post-competition video, etc. (If it is a field show video, please flair it as Field Show instead.)

• Meme

  • A flair for meme submissions.

• Field Show Media

  • A flair for field show video submissions.

• Resource

  • A flair for resource submissions. This includes advice videos, articles, etc.

• Composition

  • A flair for composition or arrangement submissions.

Flairs that are not exclusive to media-based submissions.

Generally, you want to stay away from using these flairs for media-based submissions, but if you feel that no other flair fits your submission, you are free to use these.

• Drum Corps

  • May be used to flair posts about drum corps.

• BOA

  • May be used to flair posts about Bands of America.

• College Band

  • May be used to flair posts about college band.

Moderator-Only Flairs

Moderator-Only Flair

Only moderators are able to assign these flairs to submissions. You will see these flairs only when a moderator has manually assigned this flair to a post.

• Other

  • A moderator-exclusive flair that is used when a submission, under rare circumstances, does not fall under any of the other flairs. This designation is left up to moderator discretion.

• Announcement

  • A moderator-exclusive flair that is used for official subreddit announcements.

• Approved Fundraiser

  • A moderator-exclusive flair that is used for fundraiser submissions that have been verified to fall under a special circumstance. These submissions have been approved by the moderators and are exempt from rule 5.

• Approved Promotion

  • A moderator-exclusive flair that is used for promotion submissions that have been verified to fall under a special circumstance. These submissions have been approved by the moderators and are exempt from rule 6.

Setting Post Flair

Setting a single flair is officially supported on the latest version of the official mobile apps, the redesigned desktop site, and the classic desktop site. Third party app support for flair is limited.

The post flairs listed below have been available since the above date. Any new flairs are available for users to set starting on this date. If any post flairs were removed from the list, submissions with the (now-legacy) flair will keep them unless the flair is changes.
